3. Apply for Financial Aid (Optional)

(Estimate figures if you or your parent's tax returns have not been filed; you will be able to change these later if you need to.) SUNY Poly offers scholarships primarily for academic merit; however, some awards are need based and determined by factors such as student’s hometown, intended degree program, extracurricular activities, and supplemental information. For additional information go to the Financial Aid/Scholarship page.

4. Submit SUNY Polytechnic Institute Residency Application

All first-year (freshmen) and sophomore students are housed on campus unless an exemption is requested to reside in the primary home of a parent or guardian. Junior and senior year transfer students may apply for housing which is provided on a first-applied, first-housed basis. Housing information will be included in the Enrollment Guide and is available at

5. Attend New Student Orientation

New, accepted students are required to attend Orientation. Orientation information is included in the Enrollment Guide and available at

6. Submit Final Transcripts

First-year students (freshmen): All entering students are required to submit proof of high school graduation or a general equivalency diploma (GED). Request that your guidance office submit your final transcript(s) with proof of your graduation. Final high school transcripts are typically available from high school guidance offices in early July. If receiving AP credit, you will need to request an official transcript from College Board. Please submit the incoming credit form for consideration of AP and college course credit. The form is available at

Transfer students who have earned an A.A., A.A.S., or A.S. degree prior to enrolling can satisfy this requirement with their official degree-bearing college transcript.

Final official transcripts should be submitted by January 22 (spring semester acceptances) and August 22 (fall semester acceptances) from all schools attended (including high school, GED, AP, or college transcripts if you are not earning an A.A., A.S., or A.A.S. degree). Your financial aid will be held until this is received. Please refer to your acceptance letter for appropriate deadline.
