Dr. Kathryn Stam Receives Fulbright Grant
Dr. Kathryn Stam received a Fulbright grant to do a research project called, "Preserving and Digitizing Northeastern Thai Culture and Local History." She will be affiliated with the Faculty of Informatics at Mahasarakham University. The project involves the collection of memorial books that are printed in small batches upon or soon after a funeral. Working within the rural Thai cultural context, Dr. Stam and a small team of Thai students will explore sustainable and culturally-appropriate collection mechanisms for the books. She will also work with master's students from SUNYIT's Information Design and Technology program to design multilingual web access to these valuable cultural materials.
